After School Program, In-Service and Half Days
First, a safe, structured and supervised after-school and evening meal program is provided. This after-school program serves children ages 7-17 and is open 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All children MUST be registered in order to participate in this after-school program. If your child registered before January, 2016, that does NOT mean that they are still registered. In order to provide a safe, structured environment, registrations will be limited to 30 children. Registration forms can be picked up at The Henry Davison Youth Center, located at 1445 Mount Vernon Road SE.
Summer Meal Program
The Henry Davison Youth Center has partnered with the Oak Hill Jackson Neighborhood Association, Horizons Meals on Wheels and a number of businesses to provide lunch and activities to students all summer long, from the day after school is out to the end of the summer, just before school starts again. This program is free and is open to all children, ages 0-18. Enrollment is not required in order to receive the free lunch that is offered. The program runs from 11:30-1:30, Monday through Friday. Enrollment IS required to participate in activities after lunch. Children who were enrolled in the summer activity program and who had good behaviors and regular attendance will be allowed to enroll before others. Summertime enrollment will be limited to 50 children. Check back for enrollment information.
Easter Egg Hunt
This annual event is sponsored by The Henry Davison Youth Center and is a fun way for families to get together and have some fun! Registration is NOT required. The event is free and is open to the public. Check back for detailed information about the date and time of this FAST and FRENZIED event!
Backpack & School Supply Distribution
The greater Cedar Rapids community really comes together to collaborate to give children the supplies they need to start school. The Henry Davison Youth Center works closely with Cedar Rapids Rotary West, Salvation Army, Olivet Mission, and countless others to purchase, organize and distribute nearly 2000 backpacks full of school supplies. This event is free and is open to the public. Check back for detailed information about the date and time of this important and helpful event.
