Youth Center History
In 1997, founder Henry Davison saw a need in Cedar Rapids: working parents needed a safe place for their children to go after school, where they could get the support they needed to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally in life. For more than a decade, the H.D. Youth Center has served the Cedar Rapids community by providing meals and after-school programs free of charge.
In 2008, the Youth Center was flooded and everything Henry had worked for was destroyed. Undaunted, he worked to acquire another building to continue his dream of supporting to the needy of Cedar Rapids. Thanks to staff, volunteers, and a special helping hand from Dan Olmstead Construction, the new location on Mt. Vernon Road SE is remodeled to serve area youths’ needs for learning, play and socialization.
Financing for the Youth Center is accomplished by community support. Please click the Support Us tab to become involved. We hope you see fit to support Mr. Davison in his efforts to serve our community.
